Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions asked most frequently by our customers. If you have a question that is not covered here, please contact me.

Do I get any guarantee with my jewellery?

All our products come with a one year guarantee, if it breaks we can repair or replace it. Nothing lasts forever though and if it simply wears out it’s probably time to treat yourself to something new.

I’m buying this as a gift but I’m not sure if it will fit, can you alter sizes of things?

80% of my bracelets and necklaces are able to be made shorter or longer depending upon your preference, this can usually be done for a small cost.

Does this come gift wrapped?

If you would like to make your piece of jewellery that little bit special then there is a range of Piglut gift boxes to choose from at a small extra cost.

What is the jewellery made of?

Simple! Everything silver is made from Sterling Silver. This means it has a minimum of 92.5% silver with the other 7.5% being alloys to increase its durability.

How do I clean my jewellery?

To clean silver I use a silver cloth for regular shining, it’s easy and gives great results as it doesn’t leave any residue. If you’ve been rolling in the mud however I’d recommend a quick rinse in soapy water and then clean water. Some stones however, turquoise and Lapiz Lazuli in particular, are porous so need to be kept away from any moisture.

Where does the jewellery come from?

Many of my designs originate from my workshop in Nottingham. I also source pieces from Israel, Mexico, Thailand and other destinations around the world.

My friend has a beautiful bracelet she bought from you a few years ago, do you still stock it?

Possibly not, unless it is a Piglut design and then I could more than likely make one for you. A picture is always a big help.

How long do I have to return it if I decide it’s not right for me?

You have 14 days to return goods as long as it's in its original packaging and in a saleable condition, preferably with proof of purchase, you can pop it back in the post to me at Piglut, 4 St James Street, Nottingham NG1 6FG, or bring it to the shop.
Remember to get a proof of posting stamped at the post office and I recommend using recorded delivery if it's above the £30 maximum compensation.

Who do I contact if I have a complaint?

I take all complaints very seriously, I am still learning and feedback helps me to get better at what I do. If you have something to say tell me by emailing me at jets@piglut.co.uk, be assured all serious complaints come straight to me and you will receive a rapid response.

Who designs the jewellery?

I design all of the Piglut range, the rest of the products I source directly from designers around the world.

Are the stones real?

Absolutely, I use many different stones some of which I don’t know the names of but I love the way they look, the pearls I use are cultured but they are real, different colours are achieved by introducing different chemicals to the pearls as they grow. Some stones do need more looking after than others and can fade in time through exposure to sunlight or moisture.

What are the two tone items made from?

I set out to achieve a two tone look without the risk of the plate rubbing off, so my two tone is brass plate or copper which are very hard wearing and will last forever and the other is 14ct gold. Everything I sell is solid sterling silver, the two tone colour is achieved by plating silver with brass or copper giving a fabulous gold-like finish or gold itself. To remove any tarnish that builds up, just a rub with a silver cleaning cloth and it will be back to its glorious glow.

How can I be sure my payment is secure?

When you shop with me I use RBS World Pay for all card payments, you can be assured that your card details are securely encrypted during transport so no one can access your card information. The card details are only transported to a Bank to authorise your purchase.

Do you have a catalogue?

Due to my constantly changing stock and the fact that many designs are complete one offs I can’t possibly produce a catalogue, the website is the best way to see my current range, join my mailing list to be informed of new collections.

Can I place an order by phone?

Of course, telephone me on 0115 9580540 or 07790 357743.

Can I cancel an order?

If payment has been taken and your order has been dispatched then the answer is no.
